English courses for adults
Are you interested in obtaining an English language qualification such as the First Certificate from the University of Cambridge?
International House Tarragona offers preparation classes for the University of Cambridge General English examinations: KET, PET, First Certificate (FCE), Advanced (CAE) and Proficiency (CPE) as well as the Business English examinations: Business English Certificate Preliminary (equivalent to PET), Vantage (equivalent to FCE) or Higher (equivalent to CAE).
Levels range from Beginner to Proficiency and courses take place between October and June. Five-week intensive summer courses are also organised in July.
Adult students normally attend classes in the evenings, after 19.00h, although there is a wide range of timetables to choose from, including weekday morning, midday and Saturday morning classes. General English classes are normally 1.5 hours long, twice a week. Intensive 3-hour classes are also available on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
All new students are given a short written test and are interviewed by the Director or Assistant Director of Studies, before being placed into a group appropriate to their level. There is a maximum of ten students per group.
All adult students are tested twice a year, in February and at the end of the academic year in June. Students may have an individual tutorial with their teacher twice a year, which provides them with an opportunity to discuss their progress. Students are also free to speak to the Director or the Assistant Director of Studies at any time during the academic year to discuss their progress or any other issues.
