Course outline
Our five-week 100% online course is suitable for teachers who are engaged in helping students write in English more fluently and accurately.
It is particularly relevant to teachers of examinations classes such as FCE and CAE, and also to teachers of English for academic purposes.
Course content
Course content includes:
- Approaches to writing: process, product and genre
- Paragraphing and sentence types
- Punctuation
- Coherence
- Cohesion
- Correction of written work
This is a very practical course in which you will be asked to experiment in your classroom with the ideas and materials provided on the course then report your findings to your fellow course participants and peers for discussion and evaluation.

The next start dates for this 5-week course are as follows:
- January 23rd—February 24th, 2012

- October 22nd—November 25th, 2012
Note that courses will not begin unless there is a minimum of 10 participants.
Length & time commitment
It is notoriously difficult to predict exactly how many hours an online course will take any given student. For our courses, we believe you should estimate at least 3-4 hours per module for the reading and completion of the tasks set, giving around 30 hours minimum for this particular course.
That estimate excludes the amount of class time you use for experimenting with the ideas and material from the course.
You should aim to complete each course module within 7 to 10 days.
